Apprentices will achieve a combined practical and theory-based qualification:

  • Certificate in Transporting Goods by Road

What apprentices will learn

Drivers will have the highest level of occupational competence and driving skills as well as additional competencies in logistics operations. They will be able to drive their vehicle in a safe and fuel efficient manner, respond to problems, plan the route and timings for the collection and delivery of loads and improve their own performance.


This apprenticeship is delivered in the workplace. The apprentice gains the knowledge, skills and experience for working as a senior driver.

The apprenticeship training is tailored to the needs of the individual employer and is delivered by highly qualified and technically competent training advisors. The programme is a blended combination of on the job tuition and assessment plus e-learning content and professional discussions.

Additional training may be included such as short courses in ADR carriage of dangerous goods and emergency First Aid at work as appropriate to the job.
