‘Think Logistics’ is an industry-led initiative which involves experts working in Logistics visiting a school or college to educate a group of 16-19 year olds on the Logistics industry and the opportunities that exist.
The ‘Think Logistics’ initiative was thought up by Steve Granite who is the Managing Director of Abbey Logistics Group in Liverpool. Steve joined the Logistics industry at the age of 15 from All Saints RC High School in Kirkby and has gone from a trainee Accountant to the Managing Director of the business at the age of 29.
Steve was concerned by the shortage of young people joining the Logistics industry in all roles from drivers to accountants as the business he worked for would suffer in the future unless the situation changed. His aim was to help bridge the gap between young people who are looking to get into a rewarding career and Logistics companies looking for young people. The initiative has been supported by a range of companies who formed a steering group to manage the process and they have invested a lot of time, for free to make this happen.
