BBC Breakfast visits Mantra Learning to see how maths is delivered in apprenticeships

26 March 2018

On Monday 26th March 2018 BBC Breakfast visited Mantra Learning to see how maths is delivered as part of an apprenticeship. They were reporting on how resits in GCSE maths are compulsory for learners in schools and colleges up to the age of 19 unless they have obtained a grade C pass. In an apprenticeship, learners can study functional skills maths which teaches the subject in the context of the workplace. Mantra tutors and learners told BBC reporter Tim Muffett how learning maths in a way that is relevant to the job makes it much easier to grasp. Of the students who have to resit GCSE maths 80% never achieve a pass whilst at Mantra 80% of students pass their functional skills maths.
